Adam Wingard Nabs ALIENS Star Michael Biehn For His “Gonzo Action” Horror Movie

ONSLAUGHT stars Dan Stevens and Adria Arjona.
Michael Biehn in The Victim

Godzilla x Kong director Adam Wingard’s new horror film is really starting to ramp up. The Hollywood Reporter writes that, just after Queer breakout Drew Starkey joined the cast of the film, Onslaught has also added Aliens star Michael Biehn, marking his return to action films. The announcement comes alongside the news that Reginald VelJohnson and Eric Wareheim will also star in the film, written by Wingard’s The Guest collaborator Simon Barrett.

Little is known about the plot of Onslaught yet, only that it will be a “gonzo action horror thriller.” Biehn, who also starred in The Terminator, is set to play the leader of a group of mercenaries tasked with reining in a threat that’s escaped from a secret military base. He joins Adria Arjona as a mother who “falls back on a particular set of skills in order to protect her loved ones” after she runs afoul of the threat, as well as UFC fighter Alex Periera as the central villain, The Butcher.

The film is led by Dan Stevens, who starred in Wingard’s 2014 thriller The Guest to much acclaim. Similar to his character in this year’s horror hit Cuckoo, Stevens will once again be playing a German scientist in charge of dangerous experiments. Does that mean we’ll get to hear that insane accent again?

The film is one of many lined up for Stevens, who’s also set to co-star in the exorcism film The Ritual alongside Al Pacino, which will hit theaters next year. The A24 film will be produced by Aaron Ryder and Andrew Swett for Ryder Picture Company, as well as Wingard and Jeremy Platt under their new banner Breakaway Civilization, Barrett, Alexander Black for Lyrical Media, and Jon Rosenberg and Natalie Sellers as executive producers.

No release date for Onslaught has been announced.
