It’s Alien Day, and we’ve got a little something for gamers who happen to also love themselves some Xenomorphs on this most sacred of annual corporate-driven holidays. The upcoming game Aliens: Dark Descent not only has a new trailer, but it’s also available for pre-order. What’s more, it’s a bit cheaper than expected! But more on that in a second. Unlike Alien: Isolation or even Aliens: Fireteam Elite, this is a squad-based, single-player action game. Yes, Fireteam Elite was also squad-based, but it really relied on the online multiplayer function. That’s not the case with this latest endeavor, which hails from the folks at Focus Entertainment. Have a look at the new footage.

Lots going on there! Quite a bit of cinematic footage mixed in with the squad-style gameplay. It’s also made clear that this is an original story in the universe, which is part of what made Alien: Isolation so great. Lots of rad imagery and Xenomorph variants to go around as well. Now, circling back to the price. The game is priced at $39.99, which is quite nice to see, as the standard rate for a new AAA game is now $69.99.

Those who pre-order the game will receive an exclusive black Armor Set for your squad of Colonial Marines and “a unique feline companion,” which calls to mind Jonesy from the original Alien. For a bit better sense of what players will be getting themselves into this summer, Focus describes the game as follows:

“In Aliens: Dark Descent, the horrors and wonders of an authentic Alien narrative unfold through a cinematic campaign full of sinister secrets, iconic Xenomorphs and brand-new threats. A range of tactical abilities come into play to recruit, level up and command a squad of Colonial Marines in real-time and as one unit with intuitive controls on both keyboard & mouse and controller. Any command issued over comms is swiftly obeyed by the Marine best-equipped for the situation according to their abilities and equipment. Players will need to use their wits to navigate expansive, persistent and reactive levels. However, each marines’ vitals should be monitored cautiously — for death is permanent.”
