Here's an unexpected bit of news: SCREAMBOX's recent documentary, Pennywise: The Story of IT, is headed to Blu-ray via a fully-loaded Collector's Edition, one which Stephen King fans are definitely gonna want to know about.
The news comes to us from Bloody Disgusting, who offer the following rundown of the set's special features:
“The Book Cover” takes viewers back to the original “IT” manuscript and cover design with artist Bob Giusti.
“A Deeper Look at the Music” includes an extended interview with composer Richard Bellis, discussing what inspired his classic score.
“Georgie: A Short Film” is a narrative short featuring cast from the original miniseries.
In “Childhood Phobias”, miniseries cast and crew discuss their own childhood fears.
The Extras of “IT” include short interviews with miniseries extras and additional crew.
And “The Legacy Continues” is packed full of extended commentary about the legacy and longevity of the “IT” miniseries.
Horror documentaries are a dime a dozen these days, but John Campopiano and Christopher Griffiths' Pennywise: The Story of IT is one of the sharper ones we've recently had the pleasure of seeing. The doc contains a ton of archival/behind-the-scenes footage (some of which we'd never seen before!), alongside interviews with virtually everyone involved with the production of Tommy Lee Wallace's generation-scarring 1990 miniseries. It is absolutely a cut above the standard-issue talking-head horror doc, and adding this bonus content to the film's Blu-ray release pretty much makes it a must-own.
Here's a trailer, on the off chance you've not already seen the film:
You can pre-order Pennywise: The Story of IT via Amazon as we speak, which we'd recommend you get done before the set arrives on November 22nd.
