Steven Soderbergh’s POV ghost story Presence hits theaters on January 24, with NEON dropping the final trailer today
Directed by Soderbergh and written by Jurassic Park’s David Koepp, Presence stars Lucy Liu, Chris Sullivan, Callina Liang, Eddy Maday, West Mulholland and Julia Fox, and follows a family who move into a new suburban house only to become convinced they are not alone.
As mentioned, Presence is unique in the fact that it's told entirely from the perspective of the entity haunting said family, not too dissimilar to last year's festival hit In A Violent Nature, although that film followed an undead slasher rather than a disembodied spirit.
The latest Presence trailer is, much like the others, refreshingly mysterious. It seems NEON are sticking with their ‘don't reveal the monster' technique that worked so well for them during last year's Longlegs marketing campaign. We do get some insight into what seems a pretty turbulent home life for this family, and an ominous voice over stating that the titular presence of the house is “suffering. Just like you are.” Spooky stuff!
Presence hits theaters on January 24, 2025. Check out the new trailer below:
