Comic creators Dave Scheidt (Mayor Good Boy, Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures) and Sean Mac are releasing a new comic, Raccoon City Punks. A group of teenage skater punks try their best to survive a night in Raccoon City filled with loser cops, bio-engineered monsters and hordes of flesh-eating zombies.
“This is our love letter to '90s PlayStation 1 survival horror games. Sean and I have always been obsessed with Resident Evil since we were kids, and wanted to pay tribute and goof on it a little bit and do it our own way. It's part parody, part original story mixed with 44 pages of goofs and gore.” -Dave Scheidt
I had the pleasure of reading the comic; it's a really fun read and perfect to get you in the mood for Halloween and playing some classic horror video games. If you grew up playing Resident Evil games and reading zines, this is the comic to check out. The art is very rad, filled with zombies, guts and gore. Also keep your eyes peeled for some Resident Evil easter eggs. It was printed with a risograph printer, which gives it a distinctly zine-like feel.
“I was so stoked when Dave asked me if I wanted to draw a Resident Evil comic because RE is a game series I grew up with and it’s funny to me to think about how scared of the games I was when I was little, to how over the top and goofy it is to me now. I really wanted to draw the terror and laughs that RE has given me as well as show my love to my favorite characters (and monsters!) of the series.” -Sean Mac
Raccoon City Punks is now available for pre-order and will begin shipping later this October, just in time for Halloween! You can pre-order here.
