Capcom is bringing the horrors of Resident Evil Requiem to a handheld console, as a reveal at today's Nintendo Direct confirms that the ninth mainline game in the iconic franchise will be playable on the Nintendo Switch 2 via a Switch-native version, as will previous games Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and Resident Evil Village.
Launching on February 27, 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, Resident Evil Requiem is set 30 years after a missile strike destroys Raccoon City, and follows investigate reporter Ashcroft, daughter of Resident Evil Outbreak‘s Alyssa Ashcroft. In a first for the series, in Resident Evil Requiem, players are able to change, at any point in the game, between first and third-person perspective
From the gameplay we've seen of a terrifying new stalker enemy, Requiem looks like a grand return to pure horror for the franchise, following Village‘s fantasy-tinged story. This is in line with what director Koji Nakanishi has previously detailed (and also why we're apparently not getting any Leon S. Kennedy in the game…).
