As part of their Fall Fan Fest event, IGN has revealed an exclusive behind-the-scenes clip from Christophe Gans' upcoming Return to Silent Hill, set to hit theaters on January 23, 2026 via Cineverse.
Starring Jeremy Irvine (The Woman in Black: Angel of Death) and Jigsaw‘s Hannah Emily Anderson, Return to Silent Hill was written by Gans, Sandra Vo-Anh, and Will Schneider, and is a direct adaptation of Konami's 2001 psychological horror game classic Silent Hill 2. Gans' previous trip to the infamous foggy town, 2006's Silent Hill, was a blend of the first three games in the series.
Evie Templeton, who voiced Laura in Bloober Team's recent Silent Hill 2 Remake, also stars.
In Return to Silent Hill:
“James (Irvine), a man broken after being separated from his one true love (Anderson). When a mysterious letter calls him back to Silent Hill in search of her, he finds a once-recognizable town transformed by an unknown evil. As James descends deeper into the darkness, he encounters terrifying figures both familiar and new and begins to question his own sanity as he struggles to make sense of reality and hold on long enough to save his lost love.”
IGN's new clip features interview snippets with both Gans and legendary Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka (most recently having cast his magic musical touch over Konami's latest installment in the franchise, Silent Hill f), who reassures fans that “the spirit of Silent Hill is intact” in Gans' upcoming sequel.
Gans himself has also doubled down on his deep love and respect for the source material (Silent Hill fans can be a notoriously protective bunch), previously putting out a statement after the Cineverse acquisition, saying:
“I am delighted to partner with Cineverse, which has shown a genuine understanding of fanship. Return to Silent Hill is an adaptation created out of deep respect for a true masterpiece of a game, Konami’s iconic Silent Hill 2. I hope fans will enjoy and be fulfilled with the experience this new film has to offer.”
