Celebrated writer Cullen Bunn is teaming up with the folks at Ignition Press to bring to life a new version of one of the deadliest places on Earth: the Australian Outback.  FANGORIA is excited to partner with Ignition to announce their latest series, Ripcord, which hits shelves in January and plays host to a deadly biker gang bent on sheer destruction.

Written by Bunn with art by Aneke, Ripcord’s first issue features a main cover by Jorge Fornes and B cover variants by Aneke, with additional variants to be announced closer to its release date.

“When you read Ripcord, you’re reading a comic by two creators unleashed,” said series editor Jamie S. Rich. “This book is far and away the most gruesomely kinetic project either Cullen or Aneke have undertaken. It’s their first book together, and yet they meld together so perfectly, you’d think it was their fifteenth. And that doesn’t even factor in Dune-colorist Patricia Martin, who brings a surreal, over-the-top color palette to the comic that just makes the violence and viscera all the more terrifying.”

The series’ synopsis is as follows:

The drug known as Ripcord has become the scourge of the world. It’s extremely addictive, and it doesn’t just alter your perception…it fundamentally alters who you are. Ripcord users have their whole bodies taken over by the substance, and it transforms them into mindless, frenzied killers who want nothing but to destroy. That means when the drug becomes popular in an area, that place becomes horribly dangerous.

Dillon is one of thousands who has lost a family member to Ripcord, but unlike so many others, she’s going to do something about it. Her sister has gone missing in the Outback, and Dillon is going to stop at nothing – and let nothing stop her – until she brings her home.

“Ripcord is a brutal grindhouse action adventure wrapped around Dillon’s unflinching quest to find her missing sister in the wilds of Australia,” says Bunn. “There’s something else there, too, something I’m really excited to explore with readers. As soon as the Ogre makes its appearance, it’ll become clear that we’re delving into a new mythology, one that starts, not with a creation myth, but with a question. How far would you be willing to go, how much chaos would you be willing to bring crashing down on your enemies, how much violence would you be willing to inflict if it meant saving the life of someone you love?”

Ripcord #1 hits shelves on January 14, 2026. Check out an exclusive preview down below:
