Robert Eggers is bringing the films that inspired his latest Gothic story, Nosferatu, to a screen near year next month. (Well, if you live in New York, that is.) Film at Lincoln Center is screening a special series of films titled Conjuring Nosferatu: Robert Eggers Presents next month, with a lineup full of all the films that the Northman director took inspiration from when creating his remake of the F.W. Murnau classic.

The series will, of course, feature a screening of Nosferatu itself, this time on 35mm, along with eight other films across decades and genres, including the pre-Code film Svengali, the 1946 French language version of Beauty and the Beast, David Lean’s Great Expectations, The Queen of Spades, Russian language fairytale film Andriesh, The Innocents, the Ukrainian language The Eve of Ivan Kupalo, and the Serbian film (no, not that one) The She-Butterfly / Leptirica

“I am honored to share this collection of films that inspired my adaptation of Nosferatu,” Eggers said. “It’s a world of Gothic Romance, fairy tales, and folklore, made by filmmakers with a passion to transport the audience to another time, another place, and another way of thinking and believing. From the overwhelmingly atmospheric work of David Lean or Thorold Dickinson’s Queen of Spades that utilize massive set builds on soundstages—to the visually naïve and yet terrifying She-Butterfly by Serbian filmmaker Đordje Kadijević, all the films have the ability to enthrall your imagination and make you a believer yourself.”

Organized by Florence Almozini and Dan Sullivan, the program will run from February 5 to February 9, with tickets available to non-members for $17 per film, $14 for students, seniors, and persons with disabilities, and $12 for members. Audiences can also purchase a three film package for $15, or discounted to $12 for students, seniors, and persons with disabilities, and $10 for members.

Tickets for Conjuring Nosferatu: Robert Eggers Presents are available on Film at Lincoln Center’s website now.
