Horror expert and Shudder curator Sam Zimmerman has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Programming and Acquisitions for AMC Networks' horror streamer.
Zimmerman will continue to lead programming for Shudder as it marks its 10-year anniversary, and will continue to work alongside Emily Gotto, SVP of Acquisitions and Productions and report to Scott Shooman, Head of the AMC Networks’ Film Group, encompassing IFC Films, RLJE Films and Shudder’s film division.
A certified horror buff, Sam has a personal hand in curating Shudder's extensive content, and has worked with acclaimed filmmakers including Issa Lopez, Chloe Okuno, Flying Lotus, Jayro Bustamante, Coralie Fargeat, Josh Ruben, David Bruckner, Demian Rugna and Jennifer Reeder, among others. He also mans the Halloween Hotline every October, providing subscribers with personalized movie recommendations, and if you've ever been to a Shudder Showcase at the company's IFC Center theater, you'll almost certainly have seen him hosting and moderating.
Here's what Sam had to say in a statement:
“Since day one, the mission at Shudder has been to showcase the breadth and depth of horror, connecting with fans and audiences over provocative, frightening work from renowned masters and pioneering new voices […] It’s truly a thrill to continue to help lead this incredible service at a time when horror is the fastest growing genre in entertainment, more prevalent and widely embraced than ever before. I’m so thankful to the passionate fans who have supported us these last ten years and to the immeasurably talented filmmakers and producers who have trusted us to share their stories.”
Here at FANGORIA, we're extra proud of Sam as he started his extensive career with us as a Fango intern. All of us would like to say a huge congratulations to Sam on his well-earned promotion.
