Last night saw the 52nd edition of the Saturn Awards, with some of 2024's best horror movies, including The Substance, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and Alien: Romulus winning big across the board.

Created to honor the contributions of horror, sci-fi, fantasy and genre media in general, this year’s edition of the long-running awards show was hosted by Joel McHale, and honored legends of the genre with William Shatner presented with the Saturn’s Lifetime Achievement Award and Laurence Fishburne taking home the second annual Lance Reddick Legacy Award.

Shōgun‘s Hiroyuki Sanada was presented with The Robert Forster Artist’s Award, with Back to the Future‘s Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson, and writer-producer Bob Gale in attendance to receive The George Pal Memorial Award. Also in attendance were Colin Farrell, Denis Villeneuve, Nicolas Cage (who had a wonderfully passionate anti-AI stance in his acceptance speech) , Mark Hamill, Juliette Lewis, Antony Starr, Peter Weller and Nancy Allen.

Among the big horror winners was Coralie Fargeat's body horror smash hit The Substance, earning star Demi Moore the Best Actress award, nicely complimenting her recent Golden Globes win and Oscar nomination.

JT Mollner's Kyle Gallner-starring thriller Strange Darling took home the prize for Best Thriller, with Takashi Yamazaki's Godzilla Minus One nabbing Best International Film.
