Horror legends Lin Shaye (the Insidious franchise),  Bill Moseley (The Devil’s Rejects, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2) and musician Kurt Deimer (Halloween, 2018) will be on the big screen at this year's upcoming Popcorn Frights Horror Film Festival. Their new horror comedy Scared to Death is set to premiere at the Southeast US's largest genre film festival on August 11th.

Writer/director Paul Boyd, producer Eric Barrett and actor and musician Kurt Deimer, who plays “The Grog” in the film, will be in attendance for the Savor Cinema Fort Lauderdale screening. Here's the full synopsis:

Jasper is an opportunistic young filmmaker yearning to climb the Hollywood ladder. While working as a lowly production assistant, he seizes his chance to be a “real” director when he suggests to his cantankerous boss that the crew and actors from their upcoming horror film Dead House attend a real séance in an old, haunted house for research.

The place they choose is a children’s shelter that has been closed for decades since the mysterious deaths of five children in 1954. Ominously, the orphans were found scared to death. Once the séance begins, the motley crew are trapped inside the house and haunted by the children … and something much worse.

A Grog, a séance, and an abandoned orphanage, you say? Sounds like a stellar Saturday night. With creature creations by Legacy Effects, we're excited to check out what they're serving up with The Grog. As promised, let's take a sneak peek at an exclusive clip below.

Writer/director Boyd said, “On behalf of the filmmaking team, I want to thank the programmers at the Popcorn Frights Festival for including Scared to Death in this year's event. We are  looking forward to seeing this audience react to the finished film. Popcorn Frights could not be  a better place for our world premiere.”

Executive producer Kurt Deimer, who appears as “The Grog” and wrote three songs for the film, added, “I’m really looking forward to being with the fans for this screening. Here I am now in a  movie with Lin and Bill and other great actors, and I’m still the unknown wild card. This is a new  experience for me compared to my heavy metal performances over many years.”
