Over the last couple of weeks, there has been much confusion regarding the future of Shout! Factory, home of the beloved horror label Scream Factory. From suspiciously deep discounts on certain titles from their 4K and Blu-ray library to changes in the company’s loyalty program, there was fear that one of the biggest players in the boutique physical media game was going away. Fear not! That’s not happening but Scream Factory’s 4K and Blu-ray releases do have a new home.

In a message to its customers, GRUV Entertainment revealed that it will now be the home for Shout! Factory’s catalog. That means GRUV.com is where you, dear reader, can find Scream Factory’s releases going forward. Here’s what GRUV had to say about the whole thing:

So some good, some bad here. The Shout! Factory dedicated website is no more, which is a bit of a bummer. But this move also explains the recent closeout sales that raised alarms, with favorites like the Friday the 13th box set being discontinued. Fortunately, it’s all just part of this new partnership with GRUV. As of now, the company’s site does, indeed, have a dedicated Shout! Factory page and a Scream Factory hub. As mentioned, this also means free shipping, which is always a plus.
As for whether or not the change is for the better? That remains to be seen but it is undoubtedly a good thing that Scream Factory is here to stay. From finally bringing movies like Mike Flanagan’s Hush to 4K to giving near-countless genre gems of all shapes and sizes the red carpet treatment, they do great work. Whatever keeps them in business is a good thing.
