Just in time for Women in Horror Month, Shudder is celebrating Kier-La Janisse‘s seminal horror book House of Psychotic Women with a newly curated watchlist of movies featuring some of the genre's most iconic and unhinged female performances.

The full list, revealed over on Shudder's official Letterboxd account, consists of *deep breath* Dario Argento's Phenomena, William Asher's Butcher, Baker, Nightmare Maker, Jennifer Kent's The Babadook, Andrzej Żuławski's Possession, Andrew Semans' Resurrection, Giuseppe Patroni Griffi's Identikit, Jane Arden's The Other Side of Underneath, Grzegorz Warchoł's I Like Bats, Luigi Bazzoni and Mario Fanelli's Footprints on the Moon, Andy Milligan's The Rats Are Coming! The Werewolves Are Here!, Kane Senes and Hannah Barlow's Sissy, Ryan Glover's The Strings, Amelia Moses' Bleed With Me, Herk Harvey's Carnival of Souls, Dusty Mancinelli and Madeleine Sims-Fewer's Violation and Alice Lowe's Prevenge.

Released in 2012, House of Psychotic Women, billed as “an autobiographical topography of female neurosis in horror and exploitation films”, has since become an absolute essential text for cinematic scholars and horror fans alike.

Janisse and Severin Films recently announced a second volume of House of Psychotic Women Rarities Collection, featuring North American Blu-ray premieres of four more female-focussed gems.
