SILENT HILL F Rated By South Korea’s Gaming Board

News has been scarce about the eighth mainline game in the iconic psychological horror franchise.

Silent Hill F, Konami's long-awaited new entry into the Silent Hill horror gaming series, has officially been rated by South Korea's Game Rating and Administration Committee according to Gematsu – a good sign that we're nearing closer to concrete release news.

Since first being announced way back in 2022, Silent Hill F has had very few updates, with Silent Hill lead series producer Motoi Okamoto most recently asking us to “wait a little longer” for concrete news. A rating from the Game Rating and Administration Committee usually signals marketing on the horizon, just as it did for Silent Hill 2 remake and Silent Hill: The Short Message.

Developed by Taiwanese team NeoBards Entertainment (who have worked across the Resident Eviland Devil May Cry series), the story of Silent Hill f  comes from writer Ryukishi07, best known for his work on the visual novel series When They Cry, with Japanese artist Kera (Spirit Hunter NG) handling creature and character design. A teaser trailer shows that the game will be set in 1960s Japan, and may potentially involve themes surrounding the fallout from World War II.

Silent Hill F would follow Konami and Bloober's Silent Hill 2 remake, which was a massive hit, selling over a million copies within its first three days of release and proving doubters wrong. Bloober Team has already expressed interest in remaking other entries in the series, and it looks like the Silent Hill series might be entering a renaissance period following many years of poorly-received games.
