Lead series producer Motoi Okamoto asks us to wait a little longer for the survival horror games.

Following the success of Konami and Bloober Team's Silent Hill 2 remake earlier this year, horror gamers have been clamoring for updates on previously-announced new games into the psychological horror series, including Silent Hill f, the eighth mainline game in the series, and Silent Hill: Townfall, a spin-off game which was announced at Konami's Silent Hill Transmission event all the way back in 2022.

Developed by No Code (Stories Untold, Observation) and published by Konami and Annapurna Interactive, little is known about Silent Hill: Townfall other than the announcement trailer from the Transmission, which included Morse code for “S.O.S” and hidden text detailing some cryptic and morbid phrases that seem to relate to themes from past games such as the original Silent Hill. French artist Franck Besançon is in charge of creature design.

Silent Hill f  has a little more for us to go on. Developed by Taiwanese team NeoBards Entertainment (who have worked across the Resident Eviland Devil May Cry series), the story of Silent Hill f  comes from writer Ryukishi07, best known for his work on the visual novel series When They Cry, with Japanese artist Kera (Spirit Hunter NG) handling creature and character design. A teaser trailer shows that the game will be set in 1960s Japan, and may potentially involve themes surrounding the fallout from World War II.

In a new interview with Famitsu (translated via the Aesthetic Gamer), Silent Hill lead series producer Motoi Okamoto has finally spoken on the two projects, although sadly it's not the concrete news we might have hoped for:

I am relieved to be able to deliver Silent Hill 2 last year. Taking advantage of the response of users, we will also deliver other “SILENT HILL” works of high quality and expand the range of the series. The announced titles include SILENT HILL fandSILENT HILL: Townfall. We will do our best to deliver new follow-up news, so we would appreciate it if you could wait a little longer.

While Konami seems to still be deep in development on these new Silent Hill titles, interestingly, Okamoto also commented that he had recently watched About a Place in the Kinki Region, an upcoming horror movie from cult filmmaker Kōji Shiraishi (Noroi, Occult, House of Sayuri), which could give a hint to some of the influences in either Townfall or f.

Released in October of this year, Konami and Bloober's Silent Hill 2 remake was a massive hit, selling over a million copies within its first three days of release and proving doubters wrong. Bloober Team has already expressed interest in remaking other entries in the series, and it looks like the Silent Hill series might be entering a renaissance period following many years of poorly-received games.

Hopefully 2025 will bring more definite answers on Silent Hill: Townfall and Silent Hill f. We'll bring you more updates on future Silent Hill games as they creep in.
