Spooky Season Starts Early At Silverlake Scream Show’s Indie Horror Fundraiser

SUMMER SHRIEK will feature a lineup of short films and a costume party, with goodies from a ton of local vendors.

Newly established nonprofit Silverlake Scream Show (SSS) is inviting Angelenos and film-fanatics alike to break out the costumes early at Summer Shriek, a one-night horror celebration and fundraiser taking place this Friday, August 15, at El Cid in Silverlake.

Presented by iam8bit, Summer Shriek will feature a lineup of original, spooky short films, a Halloween costume party, along with local vendors including Video Hero, Crystal Visions, and Harum Scarum. Attendees will also have a chance to win giveaways from local businesses like Horror Vibes Coffee, Killer Fitness, Mother Knows, and more.

Proceeds from the event support the nonprofit’s annual Halloween showcase and the seven up-and-coming filmmakers creating original horror shorts for this year’s program.

Charlie Schwan, President of Silverlake Scream Show, has the following to say of the event:

“We’re throwing a party for horror lovers, filmmakers, and anyone who just misses Halloween as much as we do […] It will be a great night out and every ticket goes toward helping local, indie filmmakers bring their scary stories to life.”

Tickets are available now at silverlakescreamshow.com and via Eventbrite under “Silverlake Scream Show Summer Shriek.” Donations can also be made directly at silverlakescreamshow.com/donate.
