Not content with just slashing his way to the top of the box office, Art the Clown has officially eviscerated another record, as Terrifier 3 becomes the highest grossing unrated film of all time.
At the time of writing, Bloody Disgusting and Cineverse's Terrifier 3 has racked up $55 million (off a $2 million budget) at the global box office since its wide release on October 11, and it hasn't even finished its theatrical run yet.
Starring David Howard Thornton as the maniacal Art the Clown and Lauren LaVera as final girl Sienna Shaw, the Christmas-set slasher sequel is also the highest grossing film of the Terrifier franchise, beating Terrifier 2's similarly impressive $15 million gross.
Bloody Disgusting note that prior to Terrifier 3, the highest grossing unrated movie of all time was Beyoncé's 2023 concert film Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé, which racked up $44 million worldwide.
Terrifier 3‘s gargantuan success is yet more proof that audiences certainly aren't fatigued with horror, despite what some may claim, and also that theater-goers continue to crave big, bloody spectacles of practical gore and FX.
Previously, Leone has spoken about refusing to pander to studio cuts so that he can keep Terrifier in all its uncut, gory glory that is evidently working wonders for the franchise.
With a Terrifier 4 (and perhaps a Terrifier 5) on the way, we can pretty much be sure Art and the Terrifier team have plenty more bucks to rake in – a win for horror fans everywhere.
