It’s been nearly a year since Terrifier 3 brought back Art the Clown for a Christmastime sleigh ride. We know for sure that Art will indeed return to the silver screen once again as Terrifier 4 has been in the works for a while now, with writer/director Damien Leone hard at work on the script. While much remains mysterious, Art the Clown actor David Howard Thornton has revealed that the fourth and possibly final entry in the series will be bat-shit insane. Buckle up.

In a recent interview with Slasher Radio, Thornton discussed Terrifier 4. The actor admitted right up top that he doesn’t know much about the forthcoming fourth installment in the franchise. What does he know though? We’re in for a wild ride, apparently. Here’s what he had to say about it:
“I’m very excited, but I don’t know a whole lot, because this time around Damien has been keeping everything very close to his vest about what’s happening in the script. Lauren [Lavera], Samantha [Scaffidi], and I, in the past when he’s been writing the other scripts, he’s been consulting us the whole entire time, running ideas by us. This time, he’s been pretty much silent.
He just goes, ‘Oh yeah, you’re gonna love the origin story, Dave. You’re gonna love how we do it.’ And he said also, ‘The finale is bat-shit insane. You’re gonna have a lot of fun with that.' Other than that, I don’t know, but that makes me excited.”
Very little has been confirmed about the story but as Thornton suggests, Terrifier 4 will indeed reveal Art’s origin story. The third movie had a pretty darn good gimmick taking place around Christmas. Whether or not Leone has another clever trick up his sleeve this time remains to be seen.
Leone did previously say that this movie will be “an epic closure to this Art the Clown saga.” Though it was also once suggested that the final installment could be split into two parts. Thornton also weighed in on that. He believes that even if it’s not permanent, the upcoming sequel will put Art to rest, at least for a while. Per Thornton…
“I feel like this might be the finale of this story arc that [Leone]’s going with for right now and might give it a rest for a few years and might return later on to it. I have no idea, but I’m excited nonetheless. I have so much faith in him.”
