Courtesy of Vanity Fair, Kevin Bacon gets bloody in first look images at Amazon's new action-horror series The Bondsman, hitting Prime Video on April 3.
Created by Grainger David, written by showrunner Erik Oleson (Arrow) and produced by Blumhouse Television, The Bondsman follows Hub Halloran, a bounty hunter who comes back from the dead and finds his job now has a demonic element.
In a new interview with Bacon, Vanity Fair reveals a little more of The Bondsman, which reportedly blends crime, horror, comedy, and music:
Something in his shady past is what places Hub in thrall to the management of Hell after he is brutally killed on the job while hunting for a human fugitive in the show’s opening scene. He gets to come back to life and possibly earn redemption, if he helps round up other wicked souls that have gotten loose. What exactly he once did wrong is one of The Bondsman’s long-term mysteries.
Bacon also teases:
“It is very violent and has a lot of blood and scares, but it also has some tongue-in-cheek aspects […] It’s oftentimes funny, and it also has a lot of heart.”
Starring alongside Bacon are singer Jennifer Nettles (The Exorcist: Believer), Damon Herriman (Mindhunter), Maxwell Jenkins (Dear Edward) Beth Grant (Donnie Darko) and Jolene Purdy (Orange is the New Black).
Nettles and Bacon, who play ex-spouses once in a band together, both put their musical chops to good use by writing several songs for The Bondsman.
