The end of an era is nigh, as filming has officially wrapped on The Conjuring: Last Rites, the final installment of the main The Conjuring series, set to hit theaters on September 25, 2025.
Starring Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson as real life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, The Conjuring: Last Rites marks the fourth film of The Conjuring story, following 2021's The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It.
Michael Chaves (The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, The Nun II) will direct from a screenplay by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, Ian Goldberg and Richard Naing. James Wan and Peter Safran will executive produce.
Posting via her official Instagram page, Farmiga shared a touching caption (seen below) revealing more about her and Wilson's last day on set:
Roundabout 5000 days ago, this guy and I signed a WB contract and said “I do” to embodying Ed and Lorraine Warren. Today, he wraps. I have another 12 hours of laughter and insanity with him and then abruptly, he will walk off set, peel off sweat soaked demonologist garb, shave off his side burns, flash that dazzling smile and bid our fake marriage adieu. Yeah… I got them feels today. It was a match made in heaven, PWilz. A hell of an era. Here’s to 12 years. I cherish you”
Plot details for The Conjuring: Last Rites are still under wraps, but there's no shortage of Warren tales that could be adapted for the big screen.
Since the James Wan-directed The Conjuring hit screens back in 2013, the franchise has spawned various spin-offs and sequels including the Annabelle and The Nun series. Having grossed a combined $2.2 billion against a combined budget of $208 million, The Conjuring is officially the highest-grossing horror franchise to date.
While The Conjuring's time on the big screen might be coming to a close, fear not; there's still the The Conjuring television series in development that's being executive produced by Wan and Peter Safran for Max.
The Conjuring: Last Rites is scheduled to be released in the United States on September 5, 2025
