Who's excited for a live action take on the classic fairytale, Snow White? No, not that one – we mean the R-rated horror version The Death of Snow White that's headed to select theaters via a limited theatrical run from Atlas Distribution from April 18, obviously.
Reporting the news today, Deadline also confirm that The Death of Snow White, the latest in a canon of twisted fairytale horrors, will have a digital release in North America via Entertainment Squad and their genre label The Horror Collective.
Starring Sanae Loutsis, Chelsea Edmundson, Tristan Nokes, Meredith Binder, Colin Miller, and Dillon Moore, The Death of Snow White is directed by Jason Brooks and written by Brooks and Naomi Mechem-Miller. The low-budget horror follows:
“Hunted by her evil stepmother, Snow White (Loutsis) must overcome the horrors of the dark forest and make unlikely friends with seven murderous dwarves in this dark retelling of the classic fairy tale.”
Per Deadline, The Death of Snow White is produced by Eric Michael Kochmer, Charles Bunce, Kayli Fortun, Jason Brooks, Naomi Mechem-Miller, Kody Newton and Sharif Ibrahim and is executive-produced by Shawn Loutsis, Tammy Loutsis, Matt Surowiecki Sr., Sharif Ibrahim, Andrew Etzel, Kyrie Jackson, Jordan Logan, Hannah Morrison, and Tracy Adams.
The trend for fairytale horror twists shows no signs of slowing down: there's also Cinderella's Revenge, Lionsgate's The Little Mermaid and Emilie Blichfeldt’s The Ugly Stepsister (and that's before we even get into the Poohniverse.)
