With Sydney Sweeney returning as The Housemaid next Christmas, she needs a new boss — this time, in the former of a recent Ryan Murphy alumnus. Deadline reports that Paul Anthony Kelly is joining the cast of The Housemaid’s Secret, playing husband to Kirsten Dunst and employer of the Euphoria star’s character Millie.
The Housemaid’s Secret marks Kelly’s feature debut, after rising to fame as JFK Jr. in Ryan Murphy’s series Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette, based on the real-life political power couple. According to Deadline, he’ll be playing “Douglas Garrick, the billionaire husband of Dunst’s Wendy, and the new employer of our housemaid protagonist, Millie,” giving us not only new details on his character, but Dunst’s as well, since none were given when she joined the cast.
The film’s synopsis, while brief, is as follows:
In The Housemaid’s Secret, Millie returns, taking a job keeping house for a woman she’s never allowed to see—only to discover the truth behind the locked door that threatens to expose secrets far darker than her own.

The upcoming sequel will once again be helmed by Paul Feig, with writer Rebecca Sonnenshine returning to adapt the second book in Freida McFadden’s bestselling series of novels. The Housemaid’s Secret is produced by Feig and his partner Laura Fischer, Todd Lieberman, and Sweeney, with executive producers Carly Elter and Alex Young. Michele Morrone will also be returning to reprise his role as Enzo from the first film.
The film is set to begin production sometime later this year, though further casting details have yet to be announced. Lionsgate has officially optioned all three books in McFadden’s series, as well as an additional short story published in 2024, so it’s likely this isn’t the last we’ll see of Millie and her sadistic employers.
The Housemaid’s Secret hits theaters on December 17, 2027. Stay tuned to FANGORIA for more updates.
