Arrow Video’s got your UFO fix sorted as the year winds down: the company has announced that they’re releasing a 4K Ultra HD edition of The Invasion in time for Thanksgiving, marking the first time the film has been released on physical media since its home video debut in the early aughts.

Originally released in 2007, The Invasion follows a psychiatrist whose world is turned upside down after a UFO crashes to Earth, rendering everyone around her emotionless and blank. The film stars Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig, and was directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel from a script by David Kajganich. It serves as the fourth adaptation of Jack Finney’s novel The Body Snatchers, the list of which notably includes the Donald Sutherland-led Invasion of the Body Snatchers in 1978.

The release will feature a reversible sleeve with new original art by Tommy Pocket, as well as a double-sided fold out poster also featuring art by Pocket. The disc comes fully loaded with new and existing bonus features as well:

  • *NEW* Audio commentary by film critics Andrea Subisati and Alexandra West, co-hosts of The Faculty of Horror podcast
  • *NEW* Body Snatchers and Beyond, a visual essay by film scholar Alexandra Heller Nicholas
  • *NEW* That Bug That’s Going Around, a visual essay exploring The Invasion as pandemic prophecy by film scholar Josh Nelson
  • We’ve Been Snatched Before, an archival featurette from 2007
  • The Invasion: A New Story, an archival featurette from 2007

  • The Invasion: Snatched, an archival featurette from 2007

The Invasion joins Arrow Video’s other highly anticipated November releases, which also includes a special edition 4K release of Elvira: Mistress of the Dark, as well as A Simple Plan. The 4K release hits shelves on November 12, and is available for pre-order now on Arrow’s website. Check out a clip from the remastered version of the film below:
