THE LAST OF US Will Return With Season 2 This April

Kaitlyn Dever and Isabela Merced join Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey in HBO's post-apocalyptic horror series.

Following the hugely successful first season of HBO's The Last Of Us, Max has revealed a brand new teaser for Season 2 of the post-apocalyptic horror drama.

Shared yesterday at the CES tech conference in Las Vegas, the new trailer for the video game adaptation also teased an April 2025 premiere date.

The Last of Us‘ first season was a gargantuan hit, averaging about 32 million viewers per episode across the United States, and a massive 24 Emmy nominations. The series stars Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey as Joel and Ellie respectively, two survivors of an apocalyptic pandemic caused by a fungal cordyceps infection that turns humans into mindless, zombie-like creatures. Also starring in Season One were Gabriel Luna as Tommy and Rutina Wesley as Maria, who can be seen in today's new teaser.

In the teaser, Pascal and Ramsey are seen back in their roles, while we get a good look at series newcomers Kaitlyn Dever, Isabela Merced and Isaac Dixon playing vengeful soldier Abby Anderson, love interest Dina and militia leader Isaac respectively.

Also joining for Season 2 are Catherine O’Hara, Danny Ramirez, Tati Gabrielle, Young Mazino, Ariela Barer and Spencer Lord.

A familiar scene to those who have played 2020's The Last Of Us Part II, the teaser opens with Dever's Abby walking down a dark corridor as alarms blare in the background. As previously confirmed by showrunner Craig Mazin, the second season will only adapt part of the game, and that the story will need potentially two more seasons to fully complete.

Returning to direct for Season 2 are Mazin, Peter Hoar and Naughty Dog's Neil Druckmann, with Mark Mylod (The Menu), Nina Lopez-Corrado (Perry Mason), Stephen Williams (Watchmen) and Kate Herron(Loki) joining the directorial slate.
