Aside from a new look at It prequel series Welcome to Derry, HBO's Max 2024-2025 preview slate gave us a new look at The Last of Us Season Two – with a sneak peek at a very highly-anticipated character addition.

An adaptation of the Naughty Dog video game franchise of the same name, The Last of Us‘ first season was a gargantuan hit, averaging about 32 million viewers per episode across the United States, and a massive 24 Emmy nominations.

The series stars Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey as Joel and Ellie respectively, two survivors of an apocalyptic pandemic caused by a fungal cordyceps infection that turns humans into mindless, zombie-like creatures. Also starring in Season One were Gabriel Luna as Tommy and Rutina Wesley as Maria.

Earlier this year, it was announced that Season Two had added Isabela Merced as Dina, Jeffrey Wright as Isaac, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, Danny Ramirez as Manny and Catherine O’Hara in a guest starring role.

Kaitlyn Dever (No One Will Save You) was cast as Abby Anderson, who (as The Last of Us game fans can attest) is an extremely pivotal character should Season Two go the same way as The Last of Us Part II does.

HBO's new teaser (seen below via Max's official Twitter/X account) gives us a blink-and-you'll-miss-it look at Dever as Abby in what looks to be a very game-faithful scene, plus new looks at Merced as Dina and Wright as Isaac.

While The Last of Us Season Two doesn't yet have a definitive release date, it's set to hit Max in 2025. We'll keep you updated.
