Lionsgate’s THE LITTLE MERMAID Puts A Horror Spin On A Classic Fairytale

See Ariel as you've never seen her before on December 17.

Hans Christian Andersen's age old fairytale The Little Mermaid is following in the footsteps of Mickey Mouse, Winnie the Pooh and Cinderella and getting the horror movie treatment courtesy of Lionsgate.

The R-rated horror from director Leigh Scott (Hillside Cannibals, The Hitchhiker) gets a brand new trailer today via Bloody Disgusting, who also detail the following plot details:

After archeologist Dr. Eric Prince and his students uncover an ancient pagan temple in the depths of the Caribbean, Eric falls for a mysterious woman who resembles a mermaid he and his team encountered at sea.

As their relationship intensifies, she leads Eric deeper into her evil underwater world until he must choose between true love and the destruction of all humanity.

As you can see, this is NOT The Little Mermaid that you learned about from Disney.

The Little Mermaid stars Mike Markoff, Jeff Denton, Samuel Selman, Sean Michael Argo, Winston Crooke, Steven Yniguez, Manon Laurent, and Lydia Helen, and will release on digital outlets December 17, 2024.
