Fresh from today's panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Lionsgate has debuted a brand new trailer for The Long Walk, the upcoming dystopian Stephen King adaptation from The Hunger Games‘ Francis Lawrence.
Written by are Strange Darling‘s JT Mollner, The Long Walk stars Cooper Hoffman (Licorice Pizza), Charlie Plummer (Spontaneous), Judy Greer (Jurassic World), Mark Hamill (Star Wars, The Fall of the House of Usher) and the newly FANGORIA Chainsaw Award-nominated David Jonsson (Alien: Romulus).
Ben Wang (Karate Kid: Legends), Garrett Wareing (Manifest) and Tut Nyuot (The Witcher: Blood Origin) also star.
The Long Walk is one of numerous novels King published under the pseudonym, Richard Bachman — a list that also includes The Running Man, which has its own adaptation coming later this year from Edgar Wright. Originally published in 1979, King cites it as the first novel he ever wrote sometime in the late 1960s, years before Carrie ever hit shelves, and was initially collected in 1985’s The Bachman Books.
Lawrence's latest joins other upcoming King adaptations including the recently announced The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, directed by Mollner, Mike Flanagan's The Life of Chuck, The Dark Tower and Carrie series, HBO's upcoming It prequel series Welcome to Derry, an upcoming Cujo series for Netflix that might be directed by Darren Aronofsky, not to mention Oz Perkins' The Monkey that a was another horror hit for NEON earlier this year.
The Long Walk debuts in theaters on September 12. Check out the new trailer and poster below.
