With the musical adaptation earning a whopping twelve Tony nominations and its fortieth anniversary creeping ever closer, now is the perfect time to revisit The Lost Boys — so why not do it with us? As a part of our FANGORIA Staff Picks program, audiences can head to their local Regal Cinemas to catch the classic ‘80s vampire flick on the big screen this month, for one night only. (And we do mean night. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be a vampire movie, would it?)
Starring Jason Patric, Kiefer Sutherland, and Corey Feldman, The Lost Boys is director Joel Schumacher’s seminal vampire classic, gathering together all the best aesthetics of the ‘80s for a thrill ride set along the California coast. Also featuring Corey Haim, Dianne Wiest, and Jamie Gertz, the film throws two teenage brothers right in the middle of a vampire-infested boardwalk, with one half-turned and the other — his own brother, a goddamn, shit-sucking vampire! — tasked with saving all of Santa Carla from leather-clad, punk-inspired monsters.
If somehow you haven’t seen one of the best vampire films of the last fifty years, what better way to experience its ‘80s excess than on the big screen? There, you’ll get to experience its killer fashion up close and personal, and get the best possible experience listening to its iconic soundtrack, featuring tunes from INXS, Roger Daltrey, and Echo & the Bunnymen. Plus, what better way to be scared by vampires than in the darkness that they thrive in?

And if you’ve already seen it — which I assume you have, dear FANGORIA reader, why else would you be here? — there’s no better place to watch a horror movie than on the big screen, surrounded by your fellow movie lovers. You’ll get to appreciate Ve Neill’s incredible special effects makeup and get an eyeful of every last gory detail, and ogle Tim Capello while he plays saxophone shirtless at the Santa Carla boardwalk. Nothing wrong with a little nostalgia, am I right?
As a part of the FANGORIA Staff Picks program, audiences also get special perks when they head to their local Regal to join the fun. Every ticket to a FANGORIA-chosen film including a free embroidered patch inspired by each month’s film: this month features the worms — er, Chinese takeout noodles that David and the rest of the gang eat in their underground lair. (Just…watch out for maggots, yeah?)
If you get to the theater early — which you should, because who wants to miss the previews — you’ll also be treated to a special pre-show presented by the folks here at FANGORIA. That’s an easy trick if you’re a Regal Unlimited member, as the Staff Picks program is included with your subscription, so your monthly horror ritual just got that much easier. But if you’re not an Unlimited member, there’s still perks: Regal Crown Club members can get a small popcorn and drink for $10 with their ticket purchase, so you can chow down while you watch Joel Schumacher’s undead classic.
The Lost Boys is showing at Regal Cinemas across the country for one night only on June 13. Tickets are available for purchase now on the theater chain’s website.
