While Osgood Perkins’ latest film The Monkey certainly serves as a cautionary tale about bringing home those creepy figures you find in the attics of antique stores, it seems like NEON is more than happy for fans to get their hands on versions of their own. The distributor is now selling officially licensed figurines of the titular doll from the film, starring Theo James as a pair of twins haunted by its drums that signal death for those around them.
Made from soft vinyl and created from the film’s original VFX scans, this version of The Monkey is eerily similar to the one in the film, with piercing red eyes and its arm lifted in wait, and even comes complete with tailored apparel and its very own key. Standing at ten inches tall, the figure costs a whopping $125 USD, and is only available domestically at the moment. (Probably for the better — best not to let the murderous chimp go global.)
This, of course, isn’t the first time items from popular horror films have been recreated for fans to bring home, despite their deadly reputations on film. A24 has been selling $20,000 replicas of Nosferatu’s coffin, and there’s even a popcorn bucket version of The Monkey, if the vinyl figure is a little too expensive for your tastes.
The Monkey has been a success for NEON so far, having recently passed $18 million globally, and pushing director Perkins’ career total past $100 million at the box office. With the Longlegs director having also written the script based on Stephen King’s short story, the film also stars Tatiana Maslany, Adam Scott, Elijah Wood, and Christian Convery.
The Monkey is playing in theaters now, and the figure is available for pre-order now on NEON’s website.
