Cannes' Fantastic Pavilion is in full swing, and so is The Séance, You Know Films' first-of-its-kind digital show about the market’s genre film buzz hosted by filmmakers and horror content creators, Blair Bathory and Gigi Saul Guerrero, and partnership from FANGORIA and Paramount Scares.
Kicking off The Séance, You Know Films' founder and Fantastic Pavilion Producer Alex Noyer and founder of Morbido and Fantastic Pavilion's Executive Director Pablo Guisa both sat down with Blair to talk more how the Pavilion has evolved since they launched it three years ago with the aiming of spotlighting genre film at Cannes.
With this year being the first ever edition of The Séance, Fango is also on site at Cannes to present the Pavilion with a well-deserved FANGORIA Chainsaw Award for excellence in horror and for providing the genre community a home at Cannes, spotlighting creators, fostering international collaboration, and proving that horror does in fact belong on the world’s most prestigious stages.
Speaking with Blair in our exclusive interview, Noyer, whose horror feature Love is the Monster is being presented by Raven Banner at Cannes' Marché Du Film, talks more about his desire to bring the genre buzz of Cannes to horror fans who are curious about what goes on behind the scenes at the festival market. The filmmaker and The Séance producer also teases more of what fans can expect from the first-of-its-kind digital show, including conversations with some of the genre's hottest directors.
In our next exclusive interview, Pablo Guisa opens up about the origins of Morbido (whose co-production with Corazón Films, Talking to a Stranger, showed at the Marché Du Film earlier this week) , the rise of Latin horror, and why the Pavilion is reshaping how genre cinema is seen at the world’s most prestigious film festival.
