As Cannes rolls into its second week, as does news from the Fantastic Pavilion with The Séance, You Know Films' first-of-its-kind digital show about the market’s genre film buzz hosted by filmmakers and horror content creators, Blair Bathory and Gigi Saul Guerrero, as well as You Know Films' founder and Fantastic Pavilion Producer Alex Noyer and partnership from FANGORIA and Paramount Scares.
Among the many weekend highlights from The Séance, Blair and Gigi got to chat with the cast and creators behind The Osha Rule — a bold new Spanish horror film blending gang violence, Santería, spiritual guilt, and social realism.
Directed by Ángel González, The Osha Rule stars Mariela Garriga (Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning Part One and Part Two), Édgar Vitorino (Centauro), Felipe Londoño (Wrong Side of the Tracks) and Blas Polidori (Society of the Snow), and follows a social worker who tries to save two young gang member siblings troubled by seemingly supernatural forces.
Speaking with Blair and Gigi, the cast and producer Paul Mateos Verdejo share what makes this supernatural thriller so powerful, from a diverse cast and international themes to the film’s haunting exploration of grief and redemption.
