Following a Toxie takeover at San Diego Comic-Con, Cineverse has unveiled a gloriously batshit new clip of Macon Blair's The Toxic Avenger, hitting theaters UNRATED on August 29.
In Blair's reimagining of Michael Herz and Lloyd Kaufman's 1984 sick superhero tale, Peter Dinklage stars as downtrodden janitor Winston Gooze, who, after a freak accident, transforms into the mutant vigilante we know and love as Toxie:
“Armed with his signature mop, the unlikely hero battles freaks, gangsters and corrupt CEOs while trying to save his relationship with his son. The story channels the subversive gonzo energy of the original Toxic Avenger while delivering a fresh, contemporary twist,”
Starring alongside Dinklage in the officially Certified Fresh pic are Kevin Bacon, Elijah Wood, Jacob Tremblay, Julia Davis, Taylour Paige and Luisa Guerreiro, who provides Toxie's physical performance.
Today's new clip gives us a sneak peek of Winston's transformation into the titular Toxie, as well as giving us a better look at Elijah Wood who, frankly, looks like he's about to give the horror performance of the year.
