Thomasin McKenzie (Old, Last Night in Soho) has joined Margaret Qualley inVictorian Psycho, Zachary Wigon's upcoming psychological horror thriller.
Reporting the news earlier today, Variety also expanded a little more on the plot of the upcoming feature, which is an adaptation of Virginia Feito's (who also adapted the screenplay) novel of the same name:
The story is set in 1858, watching as an eccentric young governess named Winifred Notty (Qualley) arrives at the remote gothic manor known as Ensor House. Winifred’s responsibilities include teaching the children table manners and educating them about their family’s history, all whilst hiding her psychopathic tendencies.
As Winifred assimilates into life at Ensor House, staff members begin to inexplicably disappear, and the owners of the estate begin to wonder if there is something amiss about their new governess.
McKenzie will play a nursemaid at Ensor House who befriends the eccentric new Governess.
Victorian Psycho will be produced by Longlegs‘ Dan Kagan, with Anton fully financing and representing international rights and co-repping domestic.
As we previously reported, Victorian Psycho marks a reunion for Qualley and Wigon, who previously worked together on the psychosexual thriller Sanctuary with Christopher Abbott. Speaking to Variety, Qualley expanded on her excitement:
Working with Zach [Wigon] again feels like a rare gift, and I can’t wait to step into this twisted world he’s created.
Victorian Psycho is set to start production in March 2025. Keep your eyes peeled for updates.
