Disturbing British war drama (which we absolutely count as a horror movie, by the way) Threads is being turned into a television series from Warp Films, the producer behind Netflix's equally disturbing Adolescence.
Mick Jackson’s BAFTA-winning 1984 feature follows the fallout of a nuclear bomb dropped over the English city of Sheffield, painting a nightmarish picture of life after the apocalypse and attempts at survival through nuclear devastation.
Reporting the news earlier today, Deadline confirm that Warp has not yet given details of a creative team working on the project.
Warp boss Mark Herbert had this to say of the series:
“Threads was, and remains, an unflinchingly honest drama that imagines the devastating effects of nuclear conflict on ordinary people. This story aligns perfectly with our ethos of telling powerful, grounded narratives that deeply connect with audiences. Reimagining this classic film as a TV drama gives us a unique opportunity to explore its modern relevance.”
Look out for more on Threads as we get it.
