Shadyside is set to get a whole lot bloodier, with three new Fear Street movies currently in the works according to series creator and horror fiction legend R.L. Stine.

The three new entries into the series will follow the Leigh Janiak's original Fear Street trilogy (Part I: 1994, Part II: 1978  and Part III: 1666), which was released onto Netflix over three consecutive weeks back in 2021, and the upcoming Fear Street 1988: Prom Queen from director Matt Palmer.

At the time of writing, it's unknown whether these new Fear Street films will be part of a new trilogy or separate stand-alone stories.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Stine confirmed that the “The writers are working,” referring to the three new movies “So I’ve got my fingers crossed.”

THR remind us that the Fear Street series of YA horror novels, first released in 1989, had sold over 80 million copies by 2010 and has more than 100 spinoff entries, which Stine began releasing in 2014. With over 50 books in the series, there's plenty of material to adapt to keep the Fear Street cinematic series going for a good long time.

Speaking on the upcoming series Goosebumps: The Vanishing, premiering on Disney+ on January 10, Stine shared a key difference between his two iconic series:

“The thing about Goosebumps is that no one ever dies. That’s the difference between Goosebumps and Fear Street [where] we kill off teenagers, right and left. We kill them all. Everyone loves it when you kill teenagers,”
