To celebrate 35 years since its release (incase you wanted to feel old today), Tom Savini‘s 1990 Night of the Living Dead is getting a new 4K UHD SteelBook release from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, including a new Uncensored Cut of the FX legend's take on George A. Romero's classic zombie horror.
Starring the late, great Tony Todd, Patricia Tallman and Tom Towles, Savini's Night of the Living Dead follows seven strangers as they meet and survive in a rural farmhouse, following the awakening of cannibalistic zombies, and stands as the only official remake of the 1968 original.
TheNight of the Living Dead Uncensored Cut restores the graphic violence (yay!) that was originally cut from the film in order to get it an X rating, giving Savini's original vision (as his feature directorial debut) the chance to play out as deserved. Per the man himself on Instagram: “Yes finally. Completely uncut, uncensored, and as i intended 35 years ago… it is black and white for a bit, as a homage to the original, and then color opens the curtain to my remake.”
Read on for a list of extras included in the 2-disc SteelBook, and pre-order here for a September release. For more zombie goodness, here's why we think 28 Years Later could be the defining horror movie of modern Britain.
