Vernon, New Jersey’s Action Park, which first opened in 1978, became notorious for the number of accidents and injuries, including at least six deaths, that resulted from its ill-conceived or poorly constructed thrill and water rides. It became nicknamed “Traction Park” before it closed down in 1996, followed by a major renovation to make its attractions safer when it eventually reopened as Mountain Creek. The place was the subject of an HBO documentary called Class Action Park, and now it has inspired the grisly slasher film Traction Park Massacre.

Fresh from its debut last night at New York Comic-Con, FANGORIA here presents the online premiere of the trailer for  Traction Park Massacre. Written and directed by Adam Dubin and Douglas diMonda, the homage to 1980s horror classics such as Friday The 13th and The Evil Dead stars Kai and Bodhi Schulz (American Horror Story), Jacob Kaufman, Helene Henry, Scarlett James, McKalin, Tori Sen and Lucas Hyde. It features a soundtrack of classic heavy metal songs (Dubin’s credits include a number of metal music videos and documentaries) as well as an80s-inspired score by Testament’s Alex Skolnick.

The synopsis: “Action Wonderland, a dangerous local water park, burned to the ground 15 years ago, supposedly killing twin 10-year-olds Otto and Emil Von Metzger, giving rise to urban legends. But the Terror Twins are alive and they hunt those thrill-seekers foolish enough to attempt to find the remains of the abandoned park.

“A group of young people head to the area in Mark’s RV, including Mark’s girlfriend Candy, Jamal and his girlfriend Lisa and her best friend Jamie. Along the way, Jamie and her friends attract the attention of an outlaw biker gang led by the ruthless Napalm. The gang follows Jamie, Lisa, Jamal, Mark and Candy to the area to steal the RV and dispose of the young people. But little do they know that the Terror Twins Otto and Emil have other plans for them. The entire group of young people and the biker gang are set upon by the Twins, who have rigged out the area with traps and games based upon the old, dilapidated rides.”

According to Dubin and diMonda, “ Traction Park Massacre is a horror movie with many comedic elements. The story is always moving forward, taking our characters deeper into the dark hearts of the Terror Twins, Otto and Emil, and their twisted fantasy world.” Stay tuned for updates on when you can visit  Traction Park Massacre!
