UNTIL DAWN’s First Trailer Puts Teens Through Time Loop Hell

David F. Sandberg's adaptation of the 2015 horror game hits theaters on April 25.

Following Tuesday's teaser that went into detail on how the movie adaptation will differ from the 2015 game, the first Until Dawn trailer has arrived from Sony Pictures.

Until Dawn, directed by David F. Sandberg and written and produced by Gary Dauberman (It, The Nun, ‘Salem's Lot), hits theaters on April 25.

The R-rated horror stars Ella Rubin (The Girl from Plainville), Michael Cimino (Annabelle Comes Home), Ji-young Yoo (Smoking Tigers), Odessa A’zion (Hellraiser), Maia Mitchell (Good Trouble), Belmont Cameli (Saved by the Bell) and legendary character actor Peter Stormare (Constantine), who played Dr. Hill in the original game.

Developed by Supermassive Games, the Until Dawn game, which recently got a remaster courtesy of Sony, follows eight teens vacationing in a cabin on a mysterious mountain, a year after two of their friends disappeared. However, as Sandberg has already confirmed, the Until Dawn movie will differ from its source material by making use of a time loop, Groundhog Day-style narrative:

One year after her sister Melanie mysteriously disappeared, Clover and her friends head into the remote valley where she vanished in search of answers. Exploring an abandoned visitor center, they find themselves stalked by a masked killer and horrifically murdered one by one…only to wake up and find themselves back at the beginning of the same evening.

Trapped in the valley, they’re forced to relive the nightmare again and again – only each time the killer threat is different, each more terrifying than the last. Hope dwindling, the group soon realizes they have a limited number of deaths left, and the only way to escape is to survive until dawn.
