Ahead of its October 4 Shudder premiere, V/H/S/BEYOND, the seventh instalment in the V/H/S franchise, gets a brand new trailer today teasing six new shorts from a whole host of exciting filmmakers.
V/H/S/BEYOND “will feature six new bloodcurdling tapes, placing horror at the forefront of a sci-fi-inspired hellscape.”
The V/H/S series is famed for showcasing a huge variety of horror filmmakers (past contributors include David Bruckner, Scott Derrickson, Gigi Saul Guerrero, Chloe Okuno, Timo Tjahjanto, Adam Wingard and many, many more), and this year's instalment is no different.
On the directorial roster for V/H/S/BEYOND you’ll see some familiar names not necessarily associated with being behind the camera. Here's the full slate of shorts:
- Stork: Directed by Jordan Downey, screenplay by Downey and Kevin Stewart
- Fur Babies: Written and directed by Christian Long and Justin Long
- Live and Let Dive: Directed by Justin Martinez, story by Martinez and Ben Turner, screenplay by Turner
- Dream Girl: Directed by Virat Pal, written by Pal and Evan Dickson
- Stowaway: Directed by Kate Siegel, written by Mike Flanagan
- Plus a special presentation by Jay Cheel (Cursed Films)
As always with the V/H/S films, there looks to be an insane amount of variety here, with what looks to be underwater horror, creature features, demonic deities and extraterrestrial terror.
While other entries have dabbled in sci-fi (Tjahjanto's The Subject and Jason Eisener's Slumber Party Alien Abduction, for example), V/H/S/BEYOND promises to be the first entry that unites sci-fi and horror throughout all segments as a running theme – and we can't wait.
V/H/S/BEYOND is produced by Josh Goldbloom, James Harris and Michael Schreiber, and executive produced by Adam Boorstin.
If you're heading to Fantastic Fest you can catch V/H/S/BEYOND next month in Austin. For everyone else, see you on Shudder on October 4!
