It’s time to haul out your old tape players, because the trailer for V/H/S/Beyond is here, and it’s a gnarly one. The preview of the Shudder anthology film hits us just a week before it’s set to hit the horror streamer, bringing sci-fi to the series for the first time ever as it recruits more huge names to tell their gruesome stories.

The exact sci-fi nature of most of the segments isn’t revealed in the trailer, but it does prove one thing for certain: that Beyond will be just as bloody, if not more so, than previous installments in the franchise. From plane crashes to mysterious, deadly monsters, Shudder’s packing everything they can possibly fit into this V/H/S installment, and we’re all the luckier for it. It’s analog horror at its finest, with plenty of goop, gore, and…chainsaws? Yeah, sure. We’ll take it.

The anthology film, the seventh in the series, boasts segments directed by Jordan Downey, Christian & Justin Long, Justin Martinez, Virat Pat, Jay Cheel, and Mike Flanagan muse and first time director Kate Siegel. They join a long line of acclaimed names that have lent their talents to the franchise in the past, including Ti West, Radio Silence, Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, and more. What exactly they have in store for us, we can’t be sure yet, since it’s difficult to parse segments from one another in the gorey trailer, but you can check out the full line-up of segments here:

  • Stork: Directed by Jordan Downey, screenplay by Downey and Kevin Stewart
  • Fur Babies: Written and directed by Christian Long and Justin Long
  • Live and Let Dive: Directed by Justin Martinez, story by Martinez and Ben Turner, screenplay by Turner
  • Dream Girl: Directed by Virat Pal, written by Pal and Evan Dickson
  • Stowaway: Directed by Kate Siegel, written by Mike Flanagan
  • Plus a special presentation by Jay Cheel (Cursed Films)

V/H/S/Beyond hits Shudder on October 4. Check out the new trailer now:
