Ahead of today's theatrical release of The Conjuring: Last Rites, star Vera Farmiga's band The Yagas have released a new single, “Illusion”, in celebration of the final cinematic outing of Farmiga and Patrick Wilson's Lorraine and Ed Warren.

Warner Bros.' The Conjuring: Last Rites sees stars Wilson and Farmiga return for the last time to James Wan and Peter Safran's The Conjuring universe as the paranormal investigators, this time taking on the case of the infamous Smurl family haunting, which was said to have taken place from 1974 to 1989 in West Pittston, PA. Michael Chaves (The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, The Nun II) directs the last in the mainline series from a screenplay by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, Ian Goldberg and Richard Naing, with Rebecca Calder (Wrath of Man) and Elliot Cowan (Foundation) also starring as Janet and Jack Smurl.

A family affair, “Illusion”, the latest single off The Yagas' April album “Midnight Minuet”, features Fynn Hawley, son of Farmiga and husband/Yagas keyboardist Renn Hawkey, on cello. In a new statement, Farmiga explains how the single serves as a thematic tie-in to Last Rites:

“‘Illusion’ is my auditory expression of The Conjuring: Last Rights […] The Yagas wrote this song whilst I was in the ectoplasm thick of filming C4. The song emerges from a strange convergence of two events – my terrified offspring running into my bedroom, haunted by an out-of-body experience, and my on-screen child, Judy Warren, experiencing psychological torment. ‘Illusion’ is our sonic interpretation of this haunted dreamscape – the fragile space between fear and acceptance; the space where you realize that the things in your head may be much more than just your imagination.”
