Former NFL player and current actor/filmmaker Vernon Davis (The Ritual Killer) has joined the cast of Lake Vernon, a psychological horror described as being in the vein of Talk to Me and The Invitation, Variety reports today.

Starring alongside Davis are cult classic filmmaker Tommy Wiseau (The Room, Big Shark), Malcolm Goodwin (Reacher), David Anders (The Vampire Diaries), Olivia Grace Applegate (Love and Death) and Andrea Sixtos (Arrow).

Directed by Aaron Jay Rome (End Trip) from a story by Davis and Tiffany Toney, Lake Vernon was adapted for the screen by Rome and Isaiah LaBorde.

An official logline reads:

“Old wounds resurface when a fractured group of friends reunites for a weekend retreat at an exclusive lakeside sanctuary […] As buried tensions and unspoken betrayals bubble to the surface, the lake itself seems to be listening — watching — offering impossible miracles at a cost none of them understand. In the stillness of Lake Vernon, healing and horror are one and the same.”

Variety confirm that Davis will produce and executive produce the project under his Real 85 Productions banner alongside Rome and LaBorde. Scott Conrad, who previously won the Academy Award in 1977 for his work on Rocky, is on editing duties.

Filming on Lake Vernon is currently underway in Baton Rouge, La. Look out for more on this intriguing project as we get it.
