For years, Vinegar Syndrome has been the number one place to get cult films on physical media, including special edition rereleases and films you can’t get anywhere else. Now, they’re launching a new retail-focused initiative, VSR, to provide indie retailers with exclusive re-releases of their home video editions, and FANGORIA is excited to help announce their first title: a new edition of Michael Mann’s The Keep!
The new version of the supernatural war film, originally released in 1983, will feature a spot foil slipcase and slipcover, which will contain the same two disc Ultra HD and Blu-ray set that was released in 2024, featuring a forty-page booklet and limited edition packaging designed by Sam Smith. The new edition will not be made available publicly on Vinegar Syndrome’s website, but goes on sale now at select retailers, including Diabolik, Orbit DVD, and Atomic Movie Store, select retail partners of their sister company, OCN Distribution, and the company’s retail stores in Bridgeport and Toronto, as well as their forthcoming storefront in Pittsburgh.
“We have been working with Vinegar Syndrome since the very beginning, and we are thrilled to have this new exclusive indie retailer title available for sale,” says Jesse Nelson, owner of Diabolik. “It is the kind of promotion that lets us keep up with the Amazons and Wal-Marts of the world without having to battle for a piece of the inventory pie.”
Vinegar Syndrome’s new edition of The Keep will be available at select conventions the company will be tabling at, and while the special edition won’t be released on their website, Vinegar Syndrome subscribers can stay tuned for more information on how to obtain a copy.
