The Mystery Of WEAPONS Continues With Ominous New Poster

Zach Cregger's multi-story horror pic hits theaters on August 8.

We're two trailers and a few posters into the marketing campaign for Zach Cregger's Weapons, and still no closer to knowing what the Barbarian director's latest is actually about. But the clues are coming in thick and fast, with today's new poster providing a few more.

Releasing in theaters on August 8 via Warner Bros., Weapons stars Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, Alden Ehrenreich, Benedict Wong, Austin Abrams (also set to lead Cregger's upcoming Resident Evil adaptation), Amy Madigan, and June Diane Raphael, with “a couple missing names” still to be revealed. A vague logline reveals:

When all but one child from the same classroom mysteriously vanish on the same night at exactly the same time, a community is left questioning who or what is behind their disappearance.

So far, the trailers and visuals for Weapons have suggested some gloriously maniacal violence, possibly conducted by children, with today's new poster bringing the tagline “The most harmless things can hurt you”, and what looks to be a bell adorned with the number six, a can of chicken soup, a bonsai tree and a kid running in the same robotic manner we've seen in the past trailers. Given the title, can we assumeWeapons will involve everyday household items turned into tools of murderous destruction, Final Destination style? And if so, why? Only time will tell.
