New WEAPONS Trailer Poses Even More Questions About Zach Cregger’s “Batshit Crazy” BARBARIAN Follow-Up

The multi-story horror epic hits theaters on August 8.

A new look atWeapons, today revealed on a livestream first announced on the Maybrook Missing website, has somehow managed to pose more questions than answers about Zach Cregger's mysterious, highly-anticipated Barbarian follow-up.

Releasing in theaters on August 8 via Warner Bros., Weapons stars Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, Alden Ehrenreich, Benedict Wong, Austin Abrams (also set to lead Cregger's upcoming Resident Evil adaptation), Amy Madigan, and June Diane Raphael, with “a couple missing names” still to be revealed.

In the mysterious multi-story horror epic, a group of kids from Mrs Gandy's (Garner) class mysteriously disappear overnight at exactly 2:17am.

Today's new Weapons livestream started with 20 minutes of shadowy home footage seemingly showing two children at a table being fed by a woman, with Cregger rewarding viewers for their patience with a brand new trailer (seen below, with the longer livestream below that for those who want the full experience). But there's (thankfully) more questions than answers here – the most pressing of which being, just what the hell is going on?

Originally slated for release in January 2026, the R-ratedWeapons was bumped up to a summer release, demonstrating a keen amount of confidence from Warner Bros (Barbarian grossed $45.4 million worldwide against a production budget of $4.5 million). If the reaction to the “batshit insane” first-look footage from CinemaCon is anything to go by, Weapons could be a similarly high-grossing horror hit.
