Andy and Barbara Muschietti (Mama, It) have signed Joker star Zazie Beetz to headline They Will Kill You, the first movie from the pair's newly founded horror label Nocturna.
`Written by Kirill Sokolov (Why Don't You Just Die!) and Alex Litvak, with Sokolov attached to direct, They Will Kill You follows:
…a woman who answers a help-wanted ad to be a housekeeper in a mysterious New York City high-rise. She doesn’t realize she is entering a community that has seen a number of disappearances over the years.
Per Deadline, who reported the news earlier today, Nocturna was newly launched earlier this year by Skydance and the Muschiettis, and produces “high-quality horror features for global audiences in both theatrical and streaming.”
Muschietti's 2017 It and its sequel, 2019's It: Chapter Two, were box office gold, racking up a combined box office total of $1.17 billion. A horror-focused label therefore makes total sense, and seems like a very sound investment!
The Muschiettis are also currently working on Welcome to Derry, Max's It prequel series starring Pennywise himself, Bill Skarsgård.
As for Beetz, the Atlanta breakout star has starred in plenty of genre fare so far, including 2019's Wounds, Black Mirror and Jordan Peele's The Twilight Zone. She's also reprising her Joker role in the upcoming Joker: Folie à Deux set for release later this year.
