Developed by Observation‘s Screen Burn, formerly known as No Code, and published by Konami Digital Entertainment and Annapurna Interactive (Stray), Silent Hill: Townfall is set to release on September 24. Described as a “unique take” on the DNA of the iconic survival horror series, Silent Hill: Townfall follows Simon Ordell, a troubled man called back to the Scottish island of St. Amelia to ‘put things right':

He encounters a town lying quiet beneath a heavy fog, seemingly abandoned but not at rest. Venturing deeper, and driven to understand his connection to the place and its inhabitants, Simon begins to discover fragments of a past rising to the surface.

Sounds pretty par for the course for a Silent Hill title, but in an unusual change for the series, Townfall puts players in a first-person perspective, with new ‘peeking' mechanic and a CRTV take on the classic radio that Simon can use to avoid enemies.

Following the success of Bloober's Silent Hill 2 Remake, the newest original mainline series entry Silent Hill f , and hype for Bloober Team's upcoming Silent Hill 1 remake (although the less said about Christophe Gans' Return to Silent Hill, the better), hype and hope is high that the Silent Hill franchise is reinvigorated after years of subpar, critically disappointing entries.

Townfall is making good Silent Hill producer Motoi Okamoto's promise that Konami was looking to launch the series globally, following Silent Hill f‘s Japan setting, as the game is inspired by the Screen Burn's team connections to Scotland, and especially the east coast.

Silent Hill: Townfall is now available to wishlist for PlayStation 5, Steam and Epic Games Store for its September 24 release.
