Those looking to add some spooky, indie horror vibes to their vinyl collection, we’ve got just the thing. Fango is proud to exclusively reveal the vinyl soundtrack for director Paul Etheredge’s The Other, which is available now. Presenting composer Holly Church’s score for the film in an impressive, creepy package, it's imited to 100 copies.
The Other was released earlier this year and now, the folks at Waxwork Records have helped bring the soundtrack to life. Waxwork pressed and manufactured the LP, which features deluxe packaging that includes hand-poured colored vinyl and single jackets with custom cover art by Travis Knight. Church, who was nominated for an Emmy for her work on Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities, has earned the nickname “Scream Queen of Scoring.” This vinyl release captures all of her non-traditional instrumentation, bizarre soundscapes and even bird sounds that make up the soundtrack to Etheredge’s latest. The album retails for $30 and is available now via Church’s website. Should this first pressing of 100 copies sell out, another pressing will be done with alternate artwork, also by Knight.
“Working with director Paul Etheredge on the score for The Other was an absolute blast!” Church said. “I love experimenting with odd sounds in my scores – especially my horror scores – and I can honestly say that this is the most bizarre and experimental score of mine to date. Luckily for me, Paul was all for non-traditional sounds in this score, and the note I often got from him was ‘make it weirder!’ You got it!”
The film, which you can watch for free right now on YouTube, stars Olivia Macklin, Dylan McTee, Avangeline Friedlander, Lily D. Moore and Shawnee Smith. The official synopsis reads as follows:
“Unable to conceive, a couple seeks to build a family with a young orphan, survivor of a tragic childhood. But their act of love turns to horror when they realize the violence in their foster's past has returned to destroy the new family.”
